Mr Reinoldijus Sarkinas congratulated the Bank of Estonia on the occasion of the adoption of the euro
Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania Reinoldijus Sarkinas congratulated Governor of the Bank of Estonia Andres Lipstok on the occasion of the adoption of the euro.
In his letter to Governor of the Bank of Estonia Mr Reinoldijus Sarkinas writes: „Please accept our cordial congratulations on a special occasion of the euro adoption, opening a new stage of Estonia’s economic and financial integration into the European Union. We are strongly convinced that a thorough preparation of the Bank of Estonia and other institutions will assure a smooth changeover to the euro“.
Mr Reinoldijus Sarkinas notes: „This event is of high significance not only to Estonia, but also to other countries of our closely economically interlinked Baltic region, confirming the openness of the euro club for new members and outlining the importance of sound economic policies“.
„We strongly believe that the membership in the euro area will contribute to your nation’s prosperity and will help to protect the country from potential external shocks in the coming years. We wish you every success in the process“, – writes Mr Reinoldijus Sarkinas winding up the congratulation to the Bank of Estonia.
The euro - the single currency of the European Union was introduced in Estonia on 1 January 2011. Estonia became the 17th member of the euro area.
