Over 2014 the net external assets of monetary financial institutions (MFI) increased by LTL 3.0 billion (EUR 867.3 million) and amounted to LTL 16.1 billion (EUR 4.7 billion) at the end of October.

The M3 broad monetary aggregate increased by LTL 139.7 million (EUR 40.5 million) over the month, and its annual growth rate was 1.7 per cent at the end of the month. A major impact on the increase in M3 came from overnight deposits, deposits with agreed maturity of up to 2 years and deposits redeemable at notice of up to 3 months — over the month they increased respectively by LTL 823.6 million, LTL 73.7 million and LTL 7.0 million (EUR 238.5 million, EUR 21.3 million and EUR 2.0 million). However, M3 was reduced by currency in circulation and debt securities up to 2 years, which over the month decreased by LTL 685.8 million and LTL 78.9 million (EUR 198.6 million and EUR 22.9 million), respectively. Domestic credit over the month decreased by LTL 112.6 million (EUR 32.6 million): credit to other residents decreased by LTL 141.4 million (EUR 41.0 million), while credit to general government increased by LTL 28.8 million (EUR 8.3 million).
