Over May 2014 the net external assets of monetary financial institutions (MFIs) increased by LTL 1.4 billion and amounted to LTL 12.4 billion. Domestic credit increased by LTL 615.7 million as a result of an increase in credit to other residents and general government by LTL 353.9 million and LTL 261.8 million. The M3 broad monetary aggregate decreased by LTL 528.8 million over the month, and its annual growth rate amounted to 4.3 per cent at the end of the month. Major impact on the decrease in M3 came from a decline in deposits with agreed maturity of up to 2 years (LTL 289.0 million), cash in circulation (LTL 184.9 million), overnight deposits (LTL 33.0 million) and debt securities with a maturity of up to 2 years (LTL 23.9 million); however, M3 boosted on account of an increase in deposits redeemable at a period of notice of up to 3 months — they increased by LTL 2.0 million.
