Over June 21014 the net external assets of monetary financial institutions (MFIs) contracted by LTL 376.1 million and amounted to LTL 12.0 billion. Domestic credit contracted by LTL 143.6 million over the month as a result of a decline in credit to general government by LTL 454.0 million and an increase in credit to other residents by LTL 310.4 million. The M3 broad monetary aggregate decreased by LTL 281.2 million over the month, and its annual growth rate was 3.7 per cent at the end of the month. Major impact on the decrease in M3 stemmed from a decline in currency in circulation (LTL 238.9 million) and deposits redeemable at notice of up to 3 months (LTL 119.6 million), while the change in overnight deposits — they increased by LTL 114.2 million — increased this monetary aggregate.
