Over July 2014 the net external assets of monetary financial institutions (MFIs) grew by LTL 754.4 million and amounted to LTL 12.8 billion. The M3 broad monetary aggregate increased by LTL 364.8 million over the month, and its annual growth rate was 3.8 per cent at the end of the month. The major impact on the increase in M3 stemmed from an increase in overnight deposits (LTL 713.2 million) and debt securities with a maturity of up to 2 years (LTL 9.1 million), while it was reduced by a decrease in currency in circulation (LTL 252.1 million), deposits with agreed maturity of up to 2 years (LTL 63.3 million) and deposits redeemable at notice of up to 3 months (LTL 42.2 million). Domestic credit contracted by LTL 445.1 million over the month as a result of a decline in credit to other residents by LTL 609.8 million and an increase in credit to general government by LTL 164.6 million.
