1. The Board of the Bank of Lithuania approved the financial statements of the state enterprise Lithuanian Mint for 2004.

In 2004 the Mint earned LTL 6.9 million, while its expenses amounted to LTL 6.4 million. The pre-tax profit was LTL 505.5 thousand, and net profit LTL 402.4 thousand.

In 2004, the Mint first produced proof quality cold enamel plated silver coins and silver oxidised coins with embedded glass beads. Contracted by the Bank of Lithuania, the Mint struck the first commemorative coin to mark the 425th anniversary of Vilnius University with a latent image in the reverse.

2. The Board approved the model of the 50 litas commemorative coin to mark the 150th anniversary of the National Museum of Lithuania.

The coin will be issued in the second quarter of 2005.

3. The Board approved the plan of issuing commemorative coins in 2006 under which five coins will be issued.

They will include a 50 litas silver coin featuring the nature of Lithuania, another silver coin of the same denomination dedicated to the Castle of Medininkai (series "Historical and Architectural Monuments of Lithuania") and a coin marking the uprising of 1831 and the 200th birth anniversary of Emilija Pliateryte, a hero of the uprising. A coin on the subject "Vision of the 21st Century" has been proposed. A 1 litas gold coin is planned for the fourth quarter of 2006 if the euro is adopted in the country in early 2007.
