Loans to Lithuanian residents granted by Lithuania’s credit institutions continued to increase

Today, the Bank of Lithuania published the monetary financial institution (MFI) balance sheet for June 2018, which shows that loans to Lithuanian residents granted by credit institutions grew by €231.3 million month over the month and by €1.2 billion over the first six months of the year. Loans to Lithuania’s non-financial corporations, households and the financial sector grew by €104.1 million, €87.0 million and €46.6 million respectively, while loans to general government contracted by €6.5 million. Loans to Lithuanian households for house purchase, consumption and other purposes granted by credit institutions increased by €63.6 million, €5.7 million and €17.8 million over the month respectively. Deposits of Lithuanian residents with credit institutions grew by €71.4 million over the month. Deposits from households increased by €205.7 million, while non-financial corporation, financial sector and government deposits decreased by €81.9 million, €38.4 million and €14.0 million respectively. Overnight deposits of Lithuanian households with credit institutions grew by €195.1 million, while those of non-financial corporations contracted by €60.9 million over the month.
