Lietuvos bankas invites financial market participants operating in Lithuania to participate in a consultation by the European Banking Authority (EBA) on customer due diligence requirements and other matters related to the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing and supervision thereof.

The EBA has developed four draft regulatory technical standards in response to an invitation from the European Commission. They regulate how obliged entities, including financial market participants, and supervisory authorities will comply with their with their AML/CFT obligations under the new AML/CTF package.

Lietuvos bankas draws the attention of financial market participants to the consultation on the draft regulatory technical standard relating to the information that institutions will need to obtain as part of the customer due diligence process under the new Regulation (EU) 2024/1624 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 31 May 2024 on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purposes of money laundering or terrorist financing.

Lietuvos bankas invites all financial market participants who find the above regulatory technical standards relevant to submit their comments and/or alternative proposals for the public consultation using this link.

The consultation will run until 6 June 2025.

Submitted comments and observations will be relevant for the completion/revision of the proposed draft regulatory technical standards.

On 10 April 2025 at 15:00 (Lithuanian time), the EBA will arrange a virtual public discussion for stakeholders on the proposals. Registration for the discussion is open until 8 April 2025 via this link.

The EBA plans to submit final draft regulatory technical standards to the European Commission on 31 October 2025.
