Today Jekaterina Govina, who previously spent three years as Advisor to Marius Jurgilas, Member of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, assumed her new position as Director of the Supervision Service of the Bank of Lithuania.

“Today the main course of action of the Supervision Service is dictated by globalisation, technological innovation, and the ever-changing consumer expectations and behaviour. These challenges can be conquered through prompt decisions, new technological solutions in the field of supervision, active cooperation with other supervisory bodies and participation in international initiatives. Our goal is to ensure the functioning of a sound financial market that is oriented towards the public interests,” said Jekaterina Govina.

She started working in the field of financial market supervision in 2008, namely in the Insurance Supervisory Commission, which was responsible for supervision of non-life insurance undertakings.

In 2012, Ms Govina moved on to the Bank of Lithuania Supervision Service’s Financial Services Supervision unit, where she investigated consumer complaints, carried out company inspections and contributed to the development of the legal framework that served as a gateway for fintech companies (primarily crowdfunding platforms) to Lithuania.

Since October 2016, as Advisor to the Member of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, she has been responsible for issues related to fintech and innovation.

Currently, the Supervision Service of the Bank of Lithuania employs roughly 150 people.
