Review of the Balance of Payments services exports and imports for Q4 2025
Today, Lietuvos bankas published the data on the international trade in services for the fourth quarter of 2025, which show that:
- exports of services in the fourth quarter of 2025 amounted to €6.9 billion (14.4% more than in the fourth quarter of 2024), imports of services – to €4.2 billion (up by 10.6%, compared to the corresponding period in 2024), while the surplus on the balance of services stood at €2.7 billion (accounting for 11.9% of GDP, up by 21.0% year on year);
- the bulk of export and import of services (42.7% and 45.5% respectively) consisted of transportation services. During the relevant period, the largest surplus on the balance of services was recorded for road transport services (€1.4 billion), while the largest deficit on the balance of services was for other auxiliary and ancillary transport services (€276.5 million);
- as compared to the relevant quarter of 2024, exports of services to the EU Member States went up by 16.5% in the fourth quarter of 2025 and accounted for 73.7% of total exports of services, i.e. this share increased by 1.3 percentage points within the whole structure of exports of services. Imports of services from the EU Member States rose by 13.2% over the year and accounted for 74.5%, i.e. this share grew by 1.7 percentage points within the whole structure of imports of services;
- Germany remains Lithuania’s major partner in exports of services. The volume of exports to this country expanded by 18.2% over the year. Transport (53.9%) and other business (18.4%) services comprised the largest share of the total exports of services to Germany;
- the major partner in imports of services was Poland. Imports from this country decreased by 5.2% over the year. Transport and travel services (71.7% and 10.2% respectively) comprised the largest share of imports of services from Poland.

It should be noted that for the calculation of the service data of the balance of payment for the fourth quarter of 2025, the quarterly data from the first to third quarters of 2025 were revised.
