Review of the Balance of Payments services exports and imports for Q3 2025
Today, Lietuvos bankas published data on the international trade in services for the third quarter of 2025, which shows that:
- in the third quarter of 2025, exports of services amounted to €6.6 billion, up by 13.3% year on year, while imports of services stood at €3.9 billion, up by 13.4% year on year, and the surplus on the balance of services reached €2.7 billion, or 12.1% of gross domestic product (GDP), a year-on-year increase of 13.1%;
- transport services comprised the largest share of exports and imports of services (43.0% and 44.7% respectively). Over the period under review, the largest surplus was recorded on the balance of road transport services (€1.3 billion), while the largest deficit was observed on the balance of sea freight transport services (€142.7 million);
- exports of services to the European Union (EU) Member States went up by 14.0% year on year and accounted for 72.7% of total exports of services, i.e. this share increased by 0.5 percentage points within the whole structure of exports of services. Imports of services from the EU Member States rose by 16.6% over the year and stood at 73.4%, i.e. this share increased by 2.0 percentage points within the whole structure of imports of services;
- Germany remained Lithuania’s major partner in exports of services. The volume of exports to this country increased by 5.7% year on year. Transport (52.3%) and travel (17.4%) services comprised the largest share of total exports of services to Germany;
- Poland was Lithuania’s main partner in imports of services. Imports from this country grew by 6.5% year on year. Transport and travel services (68.9% and 13.3% respectively) comprised the largest share of imports of services from Poland.
