At the end of June 2002, international reserves made up LTL 8,238.3 million (USD 2,348.6 million, EUR 2,386.0 million).In the course of one month they increased by LTL 262.2 million, or 3.3 percent.
The main reason behind the increase was net sales of the anchor currency by commercial banks to the Bank of Lithuania of LTL 527.6 million.Factors acting in the opposite direction included Bank of Lithuania repo transactions with non-residents that declined by LTL 196.0 million, operations with central government institutions and the decline of the US dollar exchange rate against the litas.
