International Reserves, January 2007Official reserve assets increased in January by 3.4 per cent

At the end of January 2007 official reserve assets made up LTL 15.7 billion (EUR 4.5 billion, USD 5.9 billion). In the course of one month they increased by LTL 0.5 billion, i.e. 3.4 per cent.

Official reserve assets were pushed up by the increase in central government deposits with the Bank of Lithuania and Bank of Lithuania external liabilities of LTL 716.0 million and LTL 98.2 million, respectively. Reserves also grew due to the increase of other factors and the deposits of other monetary financial institutions with the Bank of Lithuania of LTL 49.8 million and LTL 8.0 million, respectively.

A factor reducing official reserve assets was the contraction of currency in circulation of LTL 352.8 million.
