At the end of August 2006, international reserves made up LTL 11,462.2 million (EUR 3,319.7 million, USD 4,262.6 million). In the course of one month they decreased by LTL 201.2 million, i.e. 1.7 per cent.
The international reserves were pushed down by the contraction in central government deposits and other monetary financial institution deposits with the Bank of Lithuania by LTL 336.8 million and LTL 67.4 million, respectively.
The international reserves was affected by higher Bank of Lithuania external liabilities and other factors of LTL 98.8 million and LTL 54.6 million, respectively, in addition to currency in circulation, which went up by LTL 49.7 million.

The data on international reserves from January 2005 to July 2006 were recalculated after revising cash and deposit calculation methods (accrued interest for the period is added to balances).
