At the end of April 2006, international reserves made up LTL 11,305.4 million (EUR 3,274.3 million, USD 4,077.3 million). In the course of one month they decreased by LTL 114.7 million, i.e. 1.0 per cent.
The international reserves were pushed down by the decline of deposits of other monetary financial institutions with the Bank of Lithuania and Bank of Lithuania external liabilities of LTL 253.2 million and LTL 55.4 million, respectively. The international reserves were reduced by the contraction of central government deposits with the Bank of Lithuania and other factors by LTL 20.9 million.
The reserves were pushed up by the increase of currency in circulation by LTL 214.8 million.
Note.
From 7 June 2006, the data on the factors of change of official reserve assets will be published on the website of the Bank of Lithuania under “Statistics” instead of the currently published sources of change of official reserve assets. The new method of presentation of the international reserve change statistics will enable a more accurate assessment of the reasons of the international reserve change.
