Bank of Lithuania

Christine Lagarde, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will be on a visit to the Bank of Lithuania this month. This will be the first visit of an official of such a rank in Lithuania in the recent sixteen years.

On 18 July Christine Lagarde will attend a round table discussion „Economic integration in Europe: an assessment of challenges and possibilities“.  Jörg Asmussen, a member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank, has already confirmed his participation in this event.

The head of the IMF will also meet Vitas Vasiliauskas, the Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, and other members of the Board.

Lithuania has been a member of the IMFsince 1992. The last time that the former head of the IMF, Michel Camdessus visited Lithuania was in 1997.
