Interactive data: new visualisation tool for presentation of financing and investment
Lithuanian households hold almost two times more deposits with banks (EUR 11.9 billion) than the Latvian (EUR 6.4 billion) or Estonian (EUR 6.5 billion) households.
From now on similar and more detailed information, presented in a user-friendly and visually-appealing manner, will be available on the ECB website ‘Our statistics’.
The website offers an interactive statistical data visualisation tool, using which the ECB aims to facilitate the non-expert understanding of financial accounts statistics.
The new tool presents euro area and national financial accounts data; information is available in various EU languages. Data is provided in the form of network graphs, which show financial relations between institutional euro area/national sectors (households, banks, the general government) and the rest of the world.
Users can select individual financial instruments, sectors and time dimensions to better understand who is financing whom and who is investing where.
We encourage you to try out this financial map yourself and share it with others, as it can be easily embedded into other websites.
