In December 2006, external assets of the Bank of Lithuania went up by LTL 1.1 billion to form LTL 14.9 billion at the end of the month.
In December, currency in circulation rose by LTL 532.1 million to LTL 8.0 billion at the end of the month. As a result of transactions, residential deposits with the Bank of Lithuania grew by LTL 426.3 million over the month to form LTL 6.0 billion at the end of the month. Deposits of the central government, as a result of transactions, went up by LTL 419.0 million to form LTL 3.4 billion at the end of December. As a result of transactions, deposits of other MFIs went up by LTL 8.8 million to equal to LTL 2.6 billion at the end of the month.
Over the month, capital and reserves hiked by LTL 22.5 million as a result of transactions to form LTL 1.0 billion at the end of December.
Since deposits of non-resident non-MFIs (non-banks) with the Bank of Lithuania as a result of transactions increased by LTL 174.6 million and deposits of MFIs (banks) remained unchanged in December, external liabilities of the Bank of Lithuania went up to equal LTL 236.4 million at the end of the month.
