Aiming to more widely inform the public about Lithuania's future currency, representatives of the Ministry of Finance, Bank of Lithuania and other state institutions are organising a meeting with the general public in Vilnius.
On Thursday, 3 p.m., at the House of Europe in Vilnius (Gedimino pr. 16), Deputy Chairperson of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania Ingrida Šimonytė, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Finance Algimantas Rimkūnas, representatives of the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority and Versli Lietuva will introduce the public to practical euro adoption aspects. At this practical seminar the public will be able to get the answers to all issues of concern: the procedure for the exchange of litas into euro, conversion of salaries and pensions, protection against possible cases of fraud, conversion of prices, etc.
Thereby information seminars on the euro are moving from the regions to the major Lithuanian cities — by mid-June it is planned to visit all major cities in the country.
From April to present more than 80 seminars were organised in 33 Lithuanian towns and small towns. The representatives of the Ministries of Finance and of Economy, Bank of Lithuania and Versli Lietuva introduced the public to the practical aspects of the euro adoption. Over 1600 people attended the special seminars arranged for the public and business representatives.
In June, seminars will be held in Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Panevėžys, Marijampolė, Alytus, Šakiai and Jurbarkas. Seminars are only part of the events designated for public information. In early May, a toll free euro telephone line 8 800 34528 was opened all over Lithuania, through which the public will be able to get the answers to all relevant euro adoption issues.
