Growth in export of services to the European Union countries outpaced import of services
Balance of payments services report for Q2 2017
(Joint release by the Bank of Lithuania and Statistics Lithuania)
The data on the export and import of services by country and type of service for Q2 2017 released by the Bank of Lithuania and Statistics Lithuania show that export of services amounted to EUR 2.1 billion, import of services – EUR 1.3 billion; the surplus on the balance of services stood at EUR 797.4 million, or 7.7 per cent of GDP. In Q2 2017, the surplus on the balance of services widened by EUR 198.5 million, or 33.1 per cent year on year. The increase in the surplus of the balance of services in the reference period was due to exports of services, which outpaced imports (20.5% and 14.1% respectively).
