Fast decrease in the export of goods led to a build-up of deficit on the current account balance

Today, the Bank of Lithuania published the balance of payments data for April 2018, which shows that the deficit on the current account balance of €17.8 million resulted from the negative balances of foreign trade and primary income that were not offset by the positive balances of services and secondary income. The deficit on the balance of trade widened by 26.2% in April as the decline in the export of goods outpaced import of goods. The deficit on the primary income balance widened by 6.6%.
