The Euro Exhibition’s Family Day took place on Sunday, October 26th, at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania. Children and their parents participated in the performance of the actors’ troupe “Teatriukas”, tested their intelligence in solving puzzles, as well as their artistic, geographical and other knowledge. More than 700 visitors per day attended the event. The Euro Exhibition’s events for families will also take place on November 16th and December 7th.

Together with “Teatriukas” actors, children travelled across Europe, visiting different countries, guessing the coats of arms of states featured on euro coins. After the performance, the visitors tested their intelligence in solving puzzles as well as their artistic, geographical and other knowledge, collected points in a special “Euro žiniukas” (“Euro expert”) passport. Children and their parents did puzzles, solved crosswords, guessed coin values, drew, coloured, and marked euro area countries on maps. All visitors were able to view the exhibits of the Euro Exhibition, ask the Exhibition guides questions of concern.

“We are happy that people are curious, that they come and are interested, while we, in our turn, can answer their questions, those related to the new currency. And the range of questions is very wide: some people are interested in the places for the future exchange of the euro or how to differentiate an authentic currency unit from a counterfeit; others are interested in the fate of worn-out euros and what will be done with litas after January 1st; still others are interested in the history and design of the euro,” said Miglė Mockutė–Zaleckienė, curator of the Euro Exhibition of the Bank of Lithuania.
