Experts of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank will make an assessment of the financial sector of Lithuania
Today, the mission of experts of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) started its work in Lithuania with the objective of updating the assessment of the financial sector of Lithuania according to the Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP), a joint programme of the IMF and the WB.
The first comprehensive assessment of the financial sector of Lithuania according to this program was conducted in 2001-2002.
The current update of the assessment will cover the review of the changes in the financial sector of Lithuania (in 2002-2007), an overall analysis of financial stability and the assessment of the legal framework regulating the operation of the financial sector as well as compliance of the practice with international standards and good practice requirements.
The mission agenda up to 19 November includes meetings of the IMF and WB experts with the representatives of the Bank of Lithuania, Ministry of Finance, Securities Commission, commercial banks, insurance corporations and other representatives of the domestic financial sector.
