An exhibition, “The Euro, Our Currency“, initiated by the European Commission, opens at the Kaunas branch of the Bank of Lithuania on Thursday, 29 October 2009. The Bank of Lithuania assisted in arranging the exhibition in our country.
The movable exhibition “The Euro, Our Currency“ first invited visitors on 4 June 2007 in Brussels. It highlights how the economic and monetary union was created and how it was patiently moved towards the euro, explains the benefits provided by the euro, presents the unity of euro banknotes and reveals the differences in issued euro coins. The importance of the single currency in the everyday life of the Europeans is accentuated, answers to the questions asked frequently about the euro are provided. The exposition includes a division ”For Children About the Euro“.
When joining the European Union, Lithuania took on a commitment to adopt the single currency, euro in the future.
Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania Reinoldijus Sarkinas, Finance Minister Ingrida Simonyte, representatives of the European Commission are going to attend the opening of the exhibition “The Euro, Our Currency“.
The exhibition will be open until early January 2010.
We are inviting journalists and everyone interested in the history and the present of the euro to the opening of the exhibition. It will take place on 29 October at 5 p.m. at the Kaunas branch of the Bank of Lithuania (Maironio g. 25, Kaunas).
