European Parliament delegation to visit the Bank of Lithuania to discuss euro changeover
On Friday, December 9, a delegation of the European Parliament Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs headed by the Committee Chair Ms Pervenche Berčs and including five other members will visit the Bank of Lithuania. Mr Reinoldijus Sarkinas, Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, will brief the visitors about the preparation for the changeover to the euro in Lithuania.
The European Parliament delegation to Vilnius, visiting from Wednesday to Friday, will get acquainted with the economic and financial situation in the country and the process of preparing for the changeover. The programme of the visit by the MEPs includes meetings with representatives of the Seimas, Government, Ministry of Finance, trade unions, academic and business community.
Earlier this month the European Parliament debated the proposals made by the European Commission on the legal conditions for the new Member States for joining the euro area.
