Balance of Payments of the Republic of Lithuania for Q3 2019
The balance of payments data for Q3 2019 released by the Bank of Lithuania show that the current account balance surplus experienced an upswing and amounted to €394.7 million, or 3.1% of GDP. The current account balance surplus increased with the drop in the deficit on the foreign trade and primary income balances (€166.6 million and €90.4 million respectively) and the €98.9 million growth in the surplus balances of services. The positive net flow of financial account investment increased by 2.2 times and amounted to €230.7 million, or 1.8% of GDP. Lithuania’s gross external debt stood at €33.9 billion, or 71.1% of GDP, while net debt – at €6.2 billion, or 12.9% of GDP at the end of Q3.
