Bank of Lithuania
2011-11-17

The Bank of Lithuania conducts constant monitoring of the operation of banks. The data for today’s noon show that the country’s banks operate under usual regime. No significant redistributions of interbank funds were observed.

The liquidity situation in the country’s banks, including local capital banks, is stable. The Bank of Lithuania has not received any requests for liquidity support or inquiries about a possibility to receive such a loan from the banks operating in the country. It means that the liquidity situation in all banks, including both foreign capital and local capital banks, is stable.

The Bank of Lithuania reminds that the decisions of 16 November are related only to the activity of a single specific bank AB bankas SNORAS. Liquidity reserves of all other foreign and local capital banks significantly exceed the requirements of the Bank of Lithuania, all banks are also in compliance with the capital adequacy ratio. The changes related to the activity of AB bankas SNORAS will not have significant direct impact on other banks of the country, since interbank liabilities of the problem bank are not large.
