Deposits of Lithuanian residents with credit institutions continued to increase

Today, the Bank of Lithuania published the monetary financial institutions (MFI) balance sheet for April 2019, which shows that deposits of Lithuanian residents with credit institutions rose by €306.2 million over the month, while over the last 12 months – €2.7 billion. Financial sector, general government, non-financial corporation and household deposits grew by €125.4 million, €123.4 million, €52.2 million and €5.2 million respectively. Overnight deposits of Lithuanian households and non-financial corporations with credit institutions increased by €26.2 million and €5.3 million respectively over the month. Loans granted by credit institutions to Lithuanian residents contracted by €31.1 million over the month. Loans to Lithuanian non-financial corporations, financial sector and general government fell by €79.7 million, €8.1 million and €3.9 million respectively, while loans to households increased by €60.6 million. Loans for house purchase, consumption and other purposes granted by credit institutions to Lithuanian households increased by €49.6 million, €5.9 million and €5.1 million respectively.
