Balance Sheet of Monetary Financial Institutions, January 2019

Today, the Bank of Lithuania published the monetary financial institution (MFI) balance sheet for January 2019, which shows that deposits of Lithuanian residents with credit institutions reduced by €204.8 million over the month. Household and non-financial corporation deposits contracted by €345.4 million and €91.3 million respectively, while general government and financial sector deposits increased by €215.8 million and €16.1 million respectively. Overnight deposits from Lithuanian households and non-financial corporations with credit institutions decreased by €372.9 million and €42.4 million respectively over the month. Loans granted by credit institutions to Lithuanian residents increased by €49.8 million over the month. Loans to Lithuanian households and non-financial corporations grew by €55.7 million and €27.3 million respectively, while loans to the financial and general government sector contracted by €29.4 million and €3.8 million respectively. Loans for house purchase and consumption granted by credit institutions to Lithuanian households increased by €50.1 million and €7.5 million respectively, while loans for other purposes decreased by €2.0 million.
