Governor of the Bank of Lithuania Reinoldijus Sarkinas has sent his condolences to the National Bank of Poland (Narodowy Bank Polski) and the family of the NBP President Slawomir Stanislaw Skrzypek who perished in a plane crash last Saturday.

The letter of condolences sent by Reinoldijus Sarkinas to the NBP reads as follows:

“We are deeply shocked by the terrible disaster and by the massive loss that your nation has been facing due to the tragic event taking the lives of the President, Mr Lech Kaczynski and his wife, Mr Slawomir Stanislaw Skrzypek, President of the National Bank of Poland, and many other Polish dignitaries. We mourn together with your nation.

On behalf of the staff of the Bank of Lithuania and me personally I wish to offer our most sincere condolences to the National Bank of Poland and the family of the highly respected Mr Slawomir Stanislaw Skrzypek who perished in this tragic event.

His death is an irreparable loss not only to his family and the National Bank of Poland, but also to the whole European System of Central Banks, to everyone who was honored to know Mr Slawomir Stanislaw Skrzypek and work with him.

May this letter of condolences assure you that Mr Slawomir Stanislaw Skrzypek will always remain in our memory.”

The letter of condolences has been sent to the First Deputy President of the NBP Piotr Wiesiolek now acting as the President of the country’s central bank.
