Commemorative circulation coins will be available on the Bank of Lithuania e-shop in rolls
From now on, residents will be able to purchase commemorative circulation coins with the Lithuanian national side in rolls on the Bank of Lithuania e-shop (monetos.lb.lt). Until now, such coins could only be exchanged in the Bank of Lithuania cash offices in Vilnius and Kaunas.
The changes are aimed at improving customer experience and accessibility. As commemorative circulation coins are in high demand, long queues often formed in the Bank of Lithuania cash offices when a new coin was issued. From now on, customers will be able to purchase commemorative circulation coins in rolls on the e-shop, waisting no time to travel to the cash offices.
Commemorative coins of UNC quality in rolls will be available on the e-shop 5 working days prior to the date of release of the commemorative coin, i.e. the same day as BU-quality coins in numismatic packaging. A maximum of 5 rolls will be available for purchase throughout the pre-sale period and on the first day of release.
Later, customers will be able to order a maximum of 5 rolls per day, i.e. 125 pieces of €2 commemorative circulation coins with the Lithuanian national side, on the e-shop, and the same amount can be exchanged in the Bank of Lithuania cash offices.
Buyers wishing to purchase more rolls will be able to buy at least 2.5% but no more than 5% of the total mintage of identical coins on the e-shop after the first day of release of the commemorative coin. Bulk purchases will be subject to an administration fee, but no delivery service will be provided, and the coins will have to be collected in the Bank of Lithuania cash offices.
The first coin to be available in rolls on the e-shop will be the €2 commemorative coin “Together with Ukraine”.
The proceeds from BU-quality coins (excluding the denomination and VAT) will be used in aid to Ukraine. A person purchasing the coin will contribute EUR 10, while the total price of the coin is EUR 14.52. The funds will be transferred to the account opened by the National Bank of Ukraine for humanitarian aid.
Please note that when ordering BU-quality coins in numismatic packaging in advance or on the day of the coin’s release, one buyer will be able to purchase a maximum of 2 coins, and the number of coins after that is unlimited.
