On 20 October, the Bank of Lithuania and the central bank of the Netherlands signed a Memorandum of Understanding concerning their co-operation and exchange of information in the field of prudential supervision of banks and their cross-border establishments.

Reinoldijus Sarkinas, Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, said that the Bank of Lithuania and the central bank of the Netherlands agreed to exchange information on the supervision of credit institutions and inspection of banks to facilitate the performance of their tasks and promote safe and stable functioning of banks in both countries.

The memorandum was signed on behalf of the Bank of Lithuania by Mr Reinoldijus Sarkinas, Chairman of the Board, and on behalf of the central bank of the Netherlands by Prof. Arnold Schilder, Executive Director.

The Bank of Lithuania has already signed the memoranda of understanding on co-operation in the area of supervision of credit institutions with the central banks and financial supervisory authorities of Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.
