At the end of September 2003 broad money M2 made up LTL 16.3 billion. In the course of one month it increased by LTL 55.4 million, i.e. 0.3 per cent, while the annual increase amounted to LTL 2.1 billion, i.e. 15.0 per cent.
Currency in circulation declined by LTL 63.1 million in September, and demand deposits in litas went up by LTL 37.6 million, of which deposits of non-financial public companies, non-financial private companies and natural persons increased by LTL 16.1 million, LTL 6.2 million and LTL 18.1 million, respectively, while deposits of non-banking financial institutions went down by LTL 1.8 million.
Litas time and savings deposits increased by LTL 93.0 million, of which deposits of non-financial public companies, non-financial private companies and natural persons went up by LTL 13.1 million, LTL 30.2 million and LTL 50.7 million, respectively. Deposits in foreign currencies decreased by LTL 12.1 million, of which deposits of natural persons went down by LTL 71.9 million and deposits of non-financial public companies, non-financial private companies and non-banking financial institutions increased by LTL 14.9 million, LTL 40.6 million and LTL 7.5 million, respectively.
Net foreign assets decreased in September by LTL 37.1 million, of which foreign assets and foreign liabilities increased by LTL 379.6 million and LTL 416.7 million, respectively.
Domestic credit expanded by LTL 116.1 million, of which net claims on the central government and mandatory social and health insurance funds went down by LTL 217.8 million, while claims on the local government institutions, the private sector and non-banking financial institutions rose by LTL 14.7 million, LTL 270.3 million and LTL 51.5 million, respectively. Claims on non-financial public companies declined by LTL 2.6 million.
