At the end of October 2003 broad money M2 made up LTL 16.8 billion.In the course of one month it increased by LTL 468.4 million, i.e. 2.9 per cent, while the year-on-year increase amounted to LTL 2.6 billion, i.e. 18.3 per cent.
Currency in circulation grew by LTL 77.9 million in October, demand deposits in litas went up by LTL 350.3 million, of which deposits of local government institutions, non-financial private companies natural persons increased by LTL 53.1 million, LTL 211.2 million and LTL 90.5 million, respectively, and demand deposits of non-banking financial institutions decreased by LTL 12.7 million.
Time and savings deposits in litas decreased by LTL 105.8 million, of which deposits of non-financial private companies contracted by LTL 157.3 million, and such deposits of natural persons increased by LTL 47.3 million.Foreign currency deposits increased by LTL 146.0 million, of which deposits of non-financial public companies and non-financial private companies rose by LTL 21.0 million and LTL 138.0 million, respectively, and such deposits of natural persons decreased by LTL 18.7 million.
Net foreign assets increased in October by LTL 170.6 million, of which foreign assets and foreign liabilities went up by LTL 317.1 million and LTL 146.6 million, respectively.
Domestic credit increased by LTL 330.8 million, of which net claims on the central government and mandatory social and health insurance funds went up by LTL 194.2 million, while claims on the private sector and non-banking financial institutions rose by respectively LTL 486.6 million and LTL 43.5 million.
