At the end of November 2004 broad money M2 made up LTL 20.3 billion. In the course of one month it increased by LTL 169.6 million, i.e. by 0.8 per cent.
Money M1 grew in one month by LTL 249.6 million (2.2%) to LTL 11.6 billion at the end of November. With respect to M1 components, currency in circulation declined by LTL 10.6 million, while demand deposits in litas increased by LTL 260.2 million.
Quasi-money declined by LTL 80.0 million (0.9%) in November to LTL 8.7 billion at the end of the month. Time and savings deposits in litas increased by LTL 171.4 million, of which deposits of non-financial undertakings increased by LTL 74.6 million, and such deposits of natural persons grew by LTL 85.0 million. The second component of quasi-money - foreign currency deposits - decreased by LTL 251.4 million, of which deposits of non-financial undertakings declined by LTL 225.1 million.
Changes in the main M2 counterparts - net foreign assets and domestic credit - went in opposing directions in November. Net foreign assets decreased by LTL 131.2 million (2.0%) to LTL 6.5 billion. Domestic credit grew by LTL 479.8 million (2.8%) and made up LTL 17.4 billion at the end of the month. Credit to the private sector grew in November by LTL 383.0 million, of which credit to non-financial undertakings increased by LTL 167.1 million and credit to natural persons went up by LTL 216.3 million. Net claims to the central government and mandatory social and health insurance funds increased over the month by LTL 135.5 million.
