Banking Survey, February 2004
At the end of February 2004 broad money M2 made up LTL 17.4 billion. In the course of one month it increased by LTL 140.7 million, i.e. by 0.8 per cent.
Currency in circulation expanded by LTL 33.4 million (0.7%). Demand deposits increased by LTL 9.1 million (0.2%), of which deposits of natural persons went up by LTL 30.4 million (1.1%), and such deposits of non-banking financial institutions decreased by LTL 27.7 million (27.7%).
Litas time and savings deposits increased by LTL 166.9 million (4.6%), of which deposits of non-financial private companies and natural persons went up by LTL 86.7 million and LTL 76.8 million (18.1% and 2.7%), respectively. Deposits in foreign currencies decreased by LTL 68.7 million (2.0%), of which deposits of non-financial private companies went down by LTL 95.6 million (8.2%) and deposits of non-financial public companies increased by LTL 44.5 million (51.8%).
Net foreign assets decreased in February by LTL 301.9 million (4.7%), of which foreign assets went up by LTL 17.1 million, and foreign liabilities went down by LTL 319.0 million (5.5%).
Domestic credit increased by LTL 535.5 million (4.0%), of which net claims on the central government and mandatory social and health insurance funds grew by LTL 250.4 million (54.9%). Claims on the private sector and non-banking financial institutions increased by LTL 269.9 million and LTL 23.3 million (2.3% and 1.7%), respectively.
