In August 2007, as a result of transactions, external assets of the Bank of Lithuania increased by LTL 1.9 billion to form LTL 16.6 billion at the end of the month, whereas external liabilities grew by LTL 1.5 billion to LTL 1.6 billion at the end of the month. The main reason of this growth was that deposits of non-resident monetary financial institutions (MFIs) (banks) and non-MFIs (non-banks), as a result of transactions, rose by LTL 1.2 billion and LTL 306.3 million respectively.

In August, currency in circulation went up by LTL 141.4 million to LTL 8.8 billion at the end of the month. As a result of transactions, residential deposits with the Bank of Lithuania climbed by LTL 211.1 million over the month to form LTL 5.4 billion at the end of the month. As a result of transactions, deposits of other MFIs grew by LTL 138.6 million to reach LTL 2.9 billion at the end of August. At the same time, deposits of the central government went up, as a result of transactions, by LTL 71.3 million to LTL 2.4 billion at the end of the month.
