In August 2006 the external assets of the Bank of Lithuania declined by LTL 203.6 million to LTL 11.4 billion at the end of the month. External assets decreased by LTL 194.0 million due to transactions.
Currency in circulation grew by LTL 49.7 million in August to LTL 7.2 billion at the end of the month. Resident deposits at the Bank of Lithuania declined over the month by LTL 405.0 million due to transactions to LTL 3.2 billion at the end of the month, of which deposits of other MFIs decreased by LTL 67.4 million due to transactions to LTL 2.2 billion at the end of August. Central government deposits declined by LTL 336.6 million to LTL 1.1 billion at the end of the month.
Capital and reserves increased by LTL 20.9 million over one month as a result of transactions to LTL 964.7 million at the end of August.
As deposits of MFIs (banks) with the Bank of Lithuania remained unchanged in August, and non-MFI (non-bank) deposits increased by LTL 98.8 million, external liabilities increased to LTL 134.4 million at the end of the month.
