Today, Lietuvos bankas published the balance of payments for June 2025, which shows that:
compared to May, the surplus on the current account balance (CAB) rose markedly from €132.5 million to €475.9 million. This development was mainly determined by a drop in the deficit on primary income balance and the foreign trade deficit (see Chart 1). The deficit on primary income balance contracted by 3.6 times and stood at €102.3 million. Following a slight decline in exports of goods (0.5%) and a significant decrease in imports of goods (7.3%), the foreign trade deficit considerably dropped (40.4%) and stood at €362.2 million. With the fall in exports and imports of services (by 6.1% and 2.9% respectively), the surplus on the balance of services went down by 9.3%, amounting to €905.6 million. The surplus on the secondary income balance decreased from €113.9 million to €34.9 million;

the negative net flow of financial account investment (€88.7 million) was driven by the negative net flow of other investment (€651.1 million) and direct investment (€177.3 million). The impact of these negative flows was mostly mitigated by a positive net flow of portfolio investment (€713.9 million) (see Chart 2).
