Balance of Payments of the Republic of Lithuania for Q3 2014 and three quarters 2014
The surpluses on the balances of services and secondary income in Q3 2014 offset the negative foreign trade and primary income balances, leading to a surplus on the current account balance of LTL 487.6 million (EUR 141.2 million).
The surpluses on the balances of services and secondary income in Q3 2014 offset the negative foreign trade and primary income balances, leading to a surplus on the current account balance of LTL 487.6 million (EUR 141.2 million). In Q3 2014 a negative balance of LTL 512.6 million (EUR 148.5 million) formed in the balance of payments financial account; it was a result of significantly decreased net direct investment.
At the end of Q3 2014 the international investment position was negative (LTL –53.7 billion, or EUR 15.6 billion) and showed that Lithuania was a debtor vis-a-vis the rest of the world. The gross debt in this period amounted to LTL 86.6 billion (EUR 25.1 billion), or 69.6 per cent of GDP, while the net debt — LTL 36.8 billion (EUR 10.7 billion), or 29.6 per cent of GDP.
