At the end of September 2002 reserve money made up LTL 4,285.9 million.Over one month it went down by LTL 139.1 million, of which currency outside the central bank increased by LTL 63.8 million.Central government deposits went up by LTL 222.0 million over a month.The main reason for the decline of reserve money and the increase of central government deposits was net issue of government securities.

Foreign assets increased by LTL 109.5 million.The increase of foreign assets resulted from the net purchase of foreign exchange from commercial banks of LTL 35.2 million and because of Bank of Lithuania operations with central government institutions.
