At the end of August 2003 reserve money made up LTL 5.6 billion. Over one month it increased by LTL 25.1 million, out of which funds on correspondent accounts of commercial banks decreased by LTL 64.8 million, while required reserves in foreign currencies and cash put into circulation grew by LTL 22.4 million and LTL 66.2 million, correspondingly. Foreign assets and central government deposits rose by LTL 221.5 million and LTL 90.6 million, respectively, in a month.

Operations with central government institutions made foreign assets grow by LTL 98.5 million and repurchase transactions with non-residents -by LTL 88.8 million. The LTL 23.1 million excess of the sum of currency sold by the Bank of Lithuania to commercial banks against the amount purchased reduced foreign assets.
