AB bankas SNORAS customers entrusted the largest part of their deposit insurance compensations to other banks operating in the country
After SEB bank started the payment of deposit insurance compensations to SNORAS customers, the majority of the compensations paid to individuals were allocated among all other banks operating in the country. Over one day, the volume of deposits of individuals in the banking system increased by 7% or LTL 1.489 billion.
“The growth of deposits of individuals in all banks operating in Lithuania, without any exceptions, proves one more time that people have perfectly understood that we had a problem of one bank – other banks are operating soundly and comply with the requirements set for them. In addition, people realize that keeping the money under the pillow doing nothing is not only financially disadvantageous, but also not always safe”, stated Mr. Vitas Vasiliauskas, Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania.
Not only the volume of deposits of individuals, but also the total volume of deposits is growing in the country’s banks. Over yesterday alone, the amount of deposits of natural persons and legal entities increased by 4% (LTL 1.709 billion).
Deposit insurance compensations paid by SEB bank over the first day amounted to LTL 1.665 billion. The total amount of deposit insurance compensations planned to be paid to AB bankas SNORAS customers will make up LTL 4.1 billion.
SEB bank is paying deposit insurance compensations to individuals and the enterprises in Vilnius region.
The payment of deposit insurance compensations to enterprises of other regions was entrusted to the following banks: in Kaunas region – AB Ūkio bankas, in Klaipėda region – Danske Bank A/S Lithuania branch, in Šiauliai region – AB Šiaulių bankas, in Panevėžys region – Nordea Bank Finland Plc Lithuania branch, in Alytus and Marijampolė regions ‑ AB bankas Swedbank, in Telšiai and Utena regions – AB DNB bankas, in Tauragė region – UAB Medicinos bankas.
According to the Law On Insurance of Deposits and Liabilities to Investors, deposit insurance compensations must be paid within the period of up to 30 business days from the date of the insured event (24 November).
