The obverse of the coin features Vytis, adapted for the coin by the artist Arvydas Každailis, surrounded by the inscriptions LIETUVA (LITHUANIA) and ¼ UNCIJOS / Au 999,9 (¼ oz/Au 999.9), denomination (1 litas), year of issue (1997), and the mintmark of the Lithuanian Mint.

Reverse

The reverse features a portrait of Prof Vladas Jurgutis (1885–1966), first Governor of the Bank of Lithuania, and a facsimile of his signature, surrounded by the inscription LIETUVOS BANKUI IR LITUI 75 (BANK OF LITHUANIA AND THE LITAS – 75).
