Obverse

The obverse features a motif of the Vytis, the Lithuanian coat of arms, subtly shaped from radio waves as a symbol of Lithuania’s entry into the radio realm, visible when the coin is tilted at the right angle. The composition is complemented by inscriptions integrated into the waves: “Lietuva” (Lithuania), the denomination (10 €), the years (1926 and 2026), the motif of the Lithuanian flag created using UV printing technology, and the logo of the producer, Lithuanian Mint.

The artistic design of the reverse of the coin conveys a subtle allusion to radio waves: gradually spreading outward from the center, like a spoken word or a newly born idea, they symbolize the profound impact the radio on Lithuania — its history, society, and independence. The composition of the reverse commemorates the first words ever transmitted over the airwaves: “Hello, hello – Lithuanian Radio – Kaunas. Those who hear us, please respond!”, while the vertical inscription “100 years of the Lithuanian radio” rises like a symbol of a radio mast.
