The countercyclical capital buffer is a macroprudential policy measure necessary to protect the financial system against potential losses caused by cyclical growth of systemic risks. The Bank of Lithuania sets the countercyclical capital buffer rate each quarter on the basis of detailed analysis of the situation in the financial and real estate sectors.
