Nominations for Vladas
Jurgutis Award are accepted
The Bank of
Lithuania is seeking for nominations for the
2010 Vladas
Jurgutis Award, to be submitted by 1 September this year.
The award of LTL 50,000 will
be granted for significant contributions (monographs, textbooks, scientific
publications, dissertations) to the field of Lithuanian banking, financial,
monetary and macroeconomic research over the last five years. The winner will
be announced and presented in an award at the ceremony held in November, on
the day of birth of Vladas Jurgutis, an academic, professor and the first
Governor of the Bank of Lithuania in the pre-war period.
Starting in 2008, the Bank
of Lithuania grants the award that was established in 1997 together with the
Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, an institution which brings together the
country’s most distinguished scholars.
“It is a prestigious
economic award among scientific researchers, granted by the Bank of Lithuania
and Lithuanian Academy of Sciences to encourage scientific research in the
field of finance and economic studies,” said Prof.
Vaidievutis Geralavicius, head of the award committee and a board member of
the Bank of Lithuania.
Nominees for the award may
be proposed by natural and legal persons. Nominations must be submitted to the
Bank of Lithuania (address: Gedimino pr. 6, LT-01103 Vilnius) and must include
a Letter of Support from the nominator (whether natural or legal person);
Curriculum Vitae of nominee and description of nominee’s scientific research
and a list of relevant publications; nominee’s publications for which he/she
is proposed to be awarded, and reviews of the submitted publications.
