Reinoldijus Sarkinas, Chairman of the Board of the Bank of
Lithuania, awarded the title of Partnership Leader
Reinoldijus Sarkinas, Chairman of the Board of the Bank of
Lithuania, has been awarded the title of Partnership Leader 2004 by the
International Chamber of Commerce Lietuva (ICC Lietuva).
The award ceremony was held on 17 March in Vilnius during the
international conference entitled “ICC - the World Business Organisation. Its
Role in the Development of International Business”.
In his response Mr Sarkinas noted that the award represented
an assessment of the work done by the Board and the staff of the Bank of
Lithuania. In a brief review of the Bank of Lithuania work he mentioned the
start of participation in ERM II last year, the entry into operation of the new
payment system LITAS and highly qualified banking supervision of domestic
credit institutions.
Mr Sarkinas also spoke about the wide-ranging preparations of
the Bank of Lithuania for the adoption of the euro and noted that, according to
the recent surveys, the majority of the businesses supported the adoption of the
single currency and had sufficient information on the subject.
Other speakers at the conference included Ms Maria Livanos
Cattaui, Secretary General of the World Business Organisation, other foreign
visitors and business representatives from Lithuania.
