The exhibition: “Money in Painting”

The art works of Lithuanian artists on the subject of money were displayed in the exhibition that took place at the art gallery ARTima in Vilnius (Totoriø st. 3) on 8-31 December 2005. The invitation of the Bank of Lithuania to interpret money in art was accepted by the artists Valentinas Antanavicius, Algirdas Griskevicius, Vygantas Paukste, Giedrius Jonaitis, Paulius Juska, Klaudijus Petrulis, Jurate Mykolaityte, Karina Matiukiene, Bronius Grazys, Jurate Bogdanaviciute, Gintaras Palemonas Janonis, Valensas Jarmusevicius, Gintaras Kraujelis, Linas Cicenas and Ramune Ruzaite. They presented more than 30 art works in which money became the main object of creative work and a distinctive and slightly unusual means of expression of artistic explorations. On the day of the opening of the exhibition “Money in Painting” the composer Antanas Jasenka presented a special musical composition on the subject of money; visitors were surprised by a “talking” carpet counting its own and other people’s savings.
