BOARD OF THE BANK OF LITHUANIA

RESOLUTION ON THE USE OF IMAGES OF BANKNOTES AND COINS
OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA

Pursuant to Article 6 and Points 7 and 9, Paragraph 1, Article 11 of the Law on the Bank of Lithuania (official gazette "Valstybės žinios", 1994, No. 99-1957; 2001, No. 28-890), and Paragraph 3, Article 5 of the Law on Copyright and Related Rights (official gazette "Valstybės žinios", 1999, No. 50-1598; 2003, No. 28-1125), the Board of the Bank of Lithuania hereby resolves:

1. The use of images of banknotes and coins of the Republic of Lithuania shall be prohibited:

1.1. where such images are difficult to distinguish from the original and they can be confused with real banknotes and coins;

1.2. where the use of such images can inflict damage on the image of the currency of the Republic of Lithuania or the Bank of Lithuania.

2. The use of images of banknotes and coins of the Republic of Lithuania for promotional, educational and other purposes without an express permission of the Bank of Lithuania shall be allowed for:

2.1. banknotes:

2.1.1. in photographs, drawings, paintings and other images where the focus is not on the banknotes themselves;

2.1.2. in one-sided copies whose size is at least 125 per cent or at most 75 per cent of the real length and width of a respective banknote;

2.1.3. in double-sided copies whose size is at least 200 per cent or at most 50 per cent of the real length and width of a respective banknote;

2.2. coins – in photographs, drawings and paintings, i.e. flat reproductions on paper, textile or another material, with the exception of metals.

3. The representation of the currency of the Republic of Lithuania in any other way than specified in Paragraph 2 above shall be co-ordinated with the Cash Department of the Bank of Lithuania.
